Raffles Statue

The statue depicts Raffles, standing tall, arms folded. It is now a well known icon in Singapore and is actually a copy of the original dark bronze statue. This was recasted using a plaster cast of the original and it now stands at the side of Empress Place, marking what is believed to be Raffles' landing site. A much older, original statue is just a short stroll away right in front of Victoria Memorial Hall at Empress Place. This was unveiled on Jubilee Day on 27 June 1887.
